Many thanks to David Limbaugh who gave me the basis for this analysis and his publisher Regnery, for the courage and fortitude to print “Crimes Against Liberty”, an indictment of President Barack Obama. This is just the first of many books that will be written about the anointed one, but it will stand the test of time because it is factual, honestly written and above all else, the truth.
Cap and Trade(tax)
Less than a year or so ago, cap and trade was the darling of the climate change set. Now, after bloody battles on capitol hill and a total repudiation by most members of congress (yes, even Dems), it is dying a lingering death. But let us not become complacent and forget about this heinous tax Obama wanted to impose on us, no, we must be ever vigilant as November 2nd draws neigh and the hoped for rout of congress shall begin.
For if we lose and do not regain control of congress, it will be back, and with a vengeance unlike anything we have never seen before. You think Obamacare was a stuff job? Just wait and see if we lose. The regime will throw the book at us.
But let’s just focus on and Cap and Trade. This is by no means a new idea. It has been around for about twenty years and is used in some of the more socialist countries in Europe. Net result, no effect. A failure. Its purpose was to reduce carbon emissions; it failed. In the US it is known as the Waxman/Markey Bill. This was another clever feint by Obama on his “no new taxes” promise. Waxman/Markey was described by the Heritage Foundation’s Ben Lieberman as “nothing more than an energy tax in disguise” and the “most convoluted attempt at economic central planning this nation has ever attempted”. How many ways can you spell socialism?
The key to this bill working is to raise energy costs high so that individuals and business are forced to use less energy (or go broke). Its premise is to inflict economic pain to ensure emission targets are met. This is a massive tax increase, no matter what they call it.
The Heritage Foundation estimates that for a family of four energy costs increase the first year by $436. That’s not so much you say, only $36 a month. Anyone can handle that. Not if you are on social security! But it gets much worse. It will reach $1241.00 by 2035 and average $839 a year in increased costs during that period. Looking at individual energy costs: electricity will increase 90%, gasoline by 58 percent, and natural gas by 55 percent. The cumulative costs for this same family of four will be a staggering $20,000.
But since these higher energy costs will only be passed on to the end consumer in the form of higher prices, Heritage projects that for the family of four the average annual cost will be $2,979.00 per year. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who will be hurt the most, the low and middle income families who were PROMISED they would not see their taxes increase one single dime. “Nuff said.
